Day 389: Whoa!! Another Mindmelt

When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children! - Matthew 27:24-25

I want to give special thanks to my good pal Brandon, who mentioned this gem of an insight about an hour ago and gave me something incredible to write about today.

This post will be short, but I figure it will be mind-blowing enough without using too much space on the interwebs or taking up too much of your time.

Before we get to the passage above, let's flash all the way back to Exodus 24:8 and we see the below:

Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, "This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words."

Now, fast forward to the passage above in Matthew.

All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!

The people are simultaneously demanding Jesus be crucified and, without even knowing it, are demanding that they receive the blood of the New Covenant and that Covenant be imputed onto their children.

This is also the perfection of the Old Covenant between Moses and God that was sealed by the blood of the sacrifices.

Peace Be With You!
